Focus on the Pansy

We all can rest at ease....Focus on the Family has deemed Sponge-Bob-Light-in-the-Pants gay. I knew I detected a slight lisp. That yellow square now joins the ranks of Tinky-winky, Burt and Ernie, and Bruce off of queer eye for the straight guy, as characters unsuitable for children. White suburban stay at home moms are currently programming their TiVos to block out this heathen show across the central South. I guess it gives them something to do.

I heard the "Focus" spokesman the other day and he said that the program not only indicated that one of the writers might have tendencies, but also that the show may lead to homosexual tolerance. Yikes! The last thing we need in the country is tolerance (note the sarcasm).

What would this society be if we all listened to these "Focus" crazies? I shudder in fear at the mere thought. Sure the name "Focus on the Family" comes wrapped in a tight little, spiritually rooted sounding name, but is what these people preach truly scriptural? (or even close for that matter?)

Still Pretty Downhill cont.

This is a continuation of a post my lil' bro put on his blog recently. www.j-rod.blogspot.com.

So I'll have a moment of confession....Along with millions of viewers across the nation, I watched the series premier of "American Idol" last night. Sad....I know, but really I don't have a life. Anyways, it really is disheartening to see what levels the music industry (and fox) is willing to stoop to. The producers know that we all watch the show for a good laugh, and that is why true talent is filtered out in the very early stages of the competition. A guy in my guard unit with a vocal performance degree auditioned in Vegas and didn't even make it past the first round. I wonder though, if anyone else sees what a truly horrific path the music industry has taken recently. We now ignore true musical talent and turn to the show that highlights....ahem.....rather robust young women who are wearing far too little, questionable men with forced vibrato, and awkward dance moves that would turn even an 18 year old boy off. Where are the families and friends of these hopefuls and why have they not imformed the "singers" that to make it to the final round of "American Idol" auditions, means that you are more of an "American Laughingstock"?

I find it difficult to believe that a nation which has spawned such "Idols" as Sinatra, MJ, Elvis, and Raffi, needs to stoop to such a level to find the next great musical icon. (ok...maybe Raffi isn't an idol neccesarily). Really we are doing ourselves an disservice by supporting such a show because we are failing support true musical developement and setting these manufactured clowns up as potential stars! I did watch the show though....so I'm as guilty as anyone....

Bowl Losses and a New Kerry

I'm tired of the excuses. I'm tired of the assertion that it was everyone BUT the team and coaching staff's fault that OU lost the championship. The grass was not unfairly mowed and calls were not slanted. OU lost because USC is the better team. The fact that the Sooners made mistakes is not an EXCUSE to pass the blame, it is the REASON they went home losers. The signature of a good team is that in the big game, when everything is on the line, play is flawless. It is here OU missed the mark. OSU fans don't make excuses for our bowl loss. We sucked. Why cant the rest of the state follow suit and admit the undeniable?

On Kerry...I just read an article about his plans for the future. He really is considering running again? Didn't he lose badly enough the first time? Get a grip man! You lost the election fair and square and the last thing we need for the "new democratic party" is stale politics. I have confidence that a reasonable candidate will emerge before the next election to secure a democratic victory, but I know that Kerry is not it!

People need to embrace their losses instead of excuse them. This is so aggravating!
