Next Time I'll Choose "Date My Mom"

Today is one of those days that I have nothing to do. Carrying an atypical work schedule that involves long weekend hours and days off in the middle of the week includes many benefits such as enjoying the pool and work-out facility alone, but at the same time drawbacks like not having friends around to keep me entertained, which I might add, they are very good at doing. They should all quit their jobs so that I am always entertained.

To cure my afternoon doldrums I have switched on the TV. It's either MTV or the news and I have chosen the news. A man fell off of a riding lawn mower and cut his arm. Starbucks is raising the price for their frappuchinos because of agricultural price hikes on dairy products (right...Heroine dealers do the same thing. So do pimps and I don't think it has as much to do with supply as it has to do with demand). In other newsworthy stories, Drew Carey is replacing Bob Barker on the Price is Right and coming up, is an insightful story about Lindsay Lohan and how she is in trouble again. Lame.

Does anyone need to know how to reduce stress levels when caught in a traffic jam? I know how, thanks to the last story on channel 7! Speaking of stress levels, aren't there children dying in other countries because of ethnic cleansing and aren't many of them sold into slavery and prostitution? What about the Gaza strip? Wasn't there more fighting there today? Is Lindsay and that guy who cut his arm on a lawn mower really what we need to be informed about? Please. I'm turning off the TV and going to enjoy laying out at the pool now. And maybe while I'm there I'll read an article or two out of my Nat'l Geographic about Mexico's response to US tension over boarder control or possibly the state of the economy in Bulgaria. Maybe I'll feel more enlightened and a little less stressed about the current state of our propoganda circulation in the U.S.

And if you wish to be more enlightened than simply the knowledge that Lindsay Lohan is a drug addict:

Well, can you really blame people. I mean... Lindsay Lohan's drug addiction might impact our daily lives if, for example, she isn't allowed to make Mean Girls part II (if it isn't already made). And really, how many people even know about Bulgaria other than the fun accent? By the way, I imagine its the same in many countries, where entertainment news is light and non-intrusive. A week ago I asked my host mom if she had a newspaper I could read for language study. She responded by buying me a copy of the Russian version of 'People'. =)

When I first read your comment I read "she isn't allowed to mate" instead of "allowed to make". So maybe that should actually be a potential solution to reduce the amount of stupid people there are in the world. Don't allow people like lindsay or paris to mate. (Didn't Orwell write on that subject?). But then again, the more stupid people there are in the world the smarter I become, if intelligence is relative. Or maybe it's absolute and we should just stick with the first plan.
