Kerry the Election

I promised myself I wouldn't allow this to get political....so much for that. Since most of my friends live in semi-swing states, I hope that you all get out and vote. My vote however, doesn't count for much since hell would have to freeze over before Oklahoma would vote for a donkey. But hey....I can always influence others through the power of the internet. I heard one of Bush's speeches on NPR a couple of nights ago and he made the blatant claim that no terrorist attacks would occur in the next four years if he is re-elected. "Not on my watch," he said. The irony of his statement though, is that the last terrorist attack happened on his watch. A whole year into his presidency to be exact. How the American people can not hold him accountable for this baffles me. He can make excuses about "bad intelligence" all day long, which also happens to be the bad excuse he is using to for the obviously poor decision to attack Iraq, but when so many American's die "bad intelligence" just does not cut it as an explaination. I'm sure you have all heard of the records of C. Rice stating that Osama was not a threat to the American people just weeks before the attack so I won't start on that. Nor will I start on the scare tactics that Bush uses to swing votes. That is the most offensive and demeaning political tool I have ever witnessed. Go vote (for Kerry!) and let's have a fresh start and a more optimistic and undivided future!

Ok, I hear you. But how do you say that so a Republican can understand that they are voting for a lame horse? I only wish that Kerry had the nerve to vote against the stupid war resolution the first time and then every time after that.

I am so sick of explaining NUANCE to people.

Since when did changing your mind make you "wishy washy" or a "flip flopper???" When you acquire new information about a situation, or when an old idea becomes outdated, it is generally a good thing to change with the times and reform your views accordingly. To do anything else is to be pig-headed, stubborn and just generally UNINTELLIGENT. I'd like a man in the white house who has the capacity to make complicated decisions while considering what is best for the people in this country, AND the rest of the world.

When Kerry cast his vote TO GIVE THE PRESIDENT THE AUTHORITY TO USE FORCE IF HE NEEDED TO, he was TRUSTING that the President would not rush to drop the bombs. It was NOT a vote "for the war." It was a vote to get a sticky situation resolved--by giving authority IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to use force. In his speech on the Senate floor, he was quite clear about this.

Get Bush out--he's a fear monger, and he can't be trusted. Not after there was already an attack ON HIS WATCH. The Clinton administration informed the new Bush administration in 2000 that Osama was a huge threat--but they let it fall by the wayside until 9/11...and then suddenly Bush is a hero??? For NOT paying attention? For taking months of vacation? I don't think so.

Go vote. Especially you all in the swing states. Maybe Colorado will surprise us all and be blue this time--hey, it could happen.

Of course I'm a democrat Alise. That's one of those things I kept on the DL during high school (worried that friends might think that I was an abortion lovin heathen), but over the last for years I've learned to embrass my left wing tendencies for a number of reasons. Anyways, I'm off to go vote.

Jenny, you're great. I'm glad we can agree on this having never really influenced eachother through childhood, yet arriving at the same opinion in the end. I wish I was registered in Jeffco still cause I've heard it's the swing county for the swing state. Plus I like Salazar. We don't need another beer drinkin' hangover stumblin' drunk (much like the pres.) sent to washington to represent the great state of Colorado. Right now I'm left to tossing a coin up in the air to decide which senator will get my vote in OK. I do support the lotto though! Last election in Okklahoma we got rid of Cock Fighting and this election we will actually start to fund public education. Sounds like Oklahoma is making strides to join the rest of the civil country!!!!

Salazar has been elected. Just watched him give his acceptance speech.

Looks very much like the AWOL blowmonkey of the right wing death cult is going to live on.

What the hell is wrong with this country? I'll see you in Vancouver.
